10 on the 10th | october 2016 edition

1. Starting something new this 10th day of October: Carole for several years has hosted the weekly Ten on Tuesday blog meme; she has decided to change it up, so now, we are documenting ten things on the tenth of the month...
2. Noting only 75 days 'til Christmas , just sayin' ...
3. Remembering many Columbus Day weekends spent with friends at a delightful bed and breakfast on Tilghman Island on Maryland's Eastern Shore...there were 16 of us and we took over the entire house and two cottages, arriving on Friday afternoon and leaving on Monday mornings. We had a grand time, not much sleep and lots of tales woven in our stitching - needlepoint at that time (and, shhh, I still have a piece or two undone, er uh, I mean in process, to be finished, someday maybe) ...
4. Spending the bulk of this week on stitching the Flower Garden top borders and what seems to be a gazillion butterflies. I have a mission: get it all stitched by end of the month ...
5. Adjusting to a new mouse for my Mac...it's pretty sensitive and swift; not only looks different, feels different and has a mind of its own; in time, I shall prevail...
6. Reading, dipping into several books. One, Kicking in the Wall, is a series of writing prompts designed to help one capture memories and or practice the daily habit of writing  - something I've been working on for several years now and am still at it. Somedays I write a lot but others, a sentence or two - this is outside my daily MSQT journaling practice...
7. Contemplating this week's and today's schedule, not only the what but most importantly the when: I always manage to have a groaning board of things on my agenda and tho' I get them done, for the most part, my days don't always flow -my 2016 word - the way I envision/want them too...that's my take, so today, I'm...
8. Shaking up my morning routine/habit just a tad. To be continued...
9. Realizing that a) my tea is cool and b) almost time for a refill and c) running out of thoughts at the moment so I guess it's time to move on but not before

ten on tuesday |ice cream ...

    Summer is the time for ice cream, especially in a cone, on a hot day. Today's 10 on Tuesday prompt invites us to list our favorite ice cream. Well now, that's truly a challenge for me because nowadays,  I don't eat much ice cream, contrary to the above photo. However, when I did eat ice cream, these were my faves:

1. Butterscotch.  For years, well into my 20s, I loved me some ice cream and then,
2. Chocolate was #1.  About age 27, I discovered
3. Lemon Custard (Baskin-Robbins; yum! to die for -  in fact, recuperating from surgery, that was about all I would eat). Then, for some strange reason, I fell head over heels for 
4. Raspberry! 
5. Raspberry! 
6. Raspberry! 

Raspberry, in fact,  is my flavor of choice for jams, yogurt, fresh berries, scones, waffles, pancakes, syrups… Occasionally, I'll have a vanilla frosty, only because it's not available in raspberry or a scoop of vanilla at home over my raspberries. 

Lately, I've been drinking Starbuck's Green Tea w/lemonade and two shots of peach syrup; kinda tasty. Wonder if they have raspberry syrup; hmmm, must ask!

10 on 10...to do, doing, done!

Honoré here: I've spent most of the afternoon reorganizing quilting and knitting projects, books, magazines and sorting through extraneous stuff like knick-knacks, dust collectors, or in other words, junk. This is a perfect activity for this kind of day: raw and cold. Of course, doing so means I have barely spent any time attending to the items on today's  to-do list. And since today is Ten on the Tenth, I thought I'd share the list and the status of the items on it:

1. Play in my art journal - I've moved a few pieces of paper around; something's missing on the page; I'll come back later...
2. Find a mechanic to 'fix' Benz' emission problem - We went out this morning and found  one, only about six blocks away.  Made an appointment for Monday afternoon. Hooray!
3. Mop kitchen floor - Decided that can wait til tomorrow, if not later this weekend! 
4. Get stain for the deck trellis - Put that on the later list, too; besides it's too cold and raw out.
5. Respond to a couple blog post comments; just as soon as I publish this post...
6. Write and send birthday cards; Eek! just realized that toorrow is a postal holiday so one of my cards will be late...I'll send an e-card  and also a paper card. Shame on me!
7. Knit and/or Quilt...Have done neither but I did pull together books and magazines in both categories for projects I plan to begin soon. Some are Christmas gifts. Looking at the calendar, methinks I'd best get busy. You think?!
8. Buy bananas and sandwich fixins for the girls...tomorrow, Kayla and Dolly and possibly Christian - my grand nieces - are coming over to sew. That's another reason I was organizing - need to set up another sewing station, I 'spect. Stopped at store after finding mechanic.
9. Walk and take a photo of trees in front and back ...see #4
10. Write 10 on 10 blog post...here t'is!

Flash! Flash!  UPS just  (5:45 PM, EST) delivered my new art journal!!! I haven't even removed the shrink wrap and already I can tell I'm really going to like it. 

Well, guess I'll finish up and go watch the news.

ten on twelve...

Honoré here: The folks who particpated in Shimelle's Blogging for Scrapbookers class decided to share their take on ten things on the tenth of  each the month, starting this month. Obviously, I missed the debut post since today is the twelfth of June but I decided it's never too late to join in on the fun...plus, I didn't get my One Little Word  Friday update posted this week, either.

Anyway, back to my ten things on the 12th (we'll pretend it's the 10th). Our May OLW prompt was all about documenting our goals for these last six months of the year. My goals are:

1. move more, especially walk
2. eat more healthfully ~ primarily more salads and veggies
3. resume my weekly review so I can make more deliberate progress on my goals
4. determine and take the next action on my various and sundry projects
5. create and implement a plan for tackling long-term projects, such as decluttering
6. broaden my reading selections ~get back into fiction
7. incorporate more visuals in my journals
8. document movement towards accomplishing these goals
9. have fun and
10. express gratitude...

...this is a photo of sunrise in Sisters, OR. I am so grateful that I've found this place. I left my heart there and soon, I shall return for another lovely week.
