(that glob of bright light is actually the sun)
Hello Sunrise: "6:50 am ~Watching the beginning of the sunrise...7:12 am~the sky still shows evidence of the sun rise- faithfully happening as the world turns, slowly- another three hours til the west coasters see - but it happens, even if obscured by clouds, snow, rain...I take comfort in knowing that the world is centered tho' tilted and turning...and the sun is there...7:19 am : the sky is ablaze with color. Streaks of yellow, orange, pink - remind me of the tree I painted with oils in my senior year of high school at the Toledo Museum of Art. I should recreate. I will try over this next month or so. Practice. Again. Again. Again. I stand at the window, facing east and watch the sun "rise;" birds and planes fly overhead; cars and people travel up/down the street; squirrels scamper through the trees, across the street, traveling on electric wires. The sky changes, changes. I feel heat rising from the radiator. I remember my "quilt," I began in 2011 - my second venture to Sisters OR for a week -long class with Jean Wells and the second phase of my quilting journey...I shudder, the piece, tho' inspired by just a similar sunrise ---and was I tending a cold, then, too? NTS: check my journal! And retrieve, reconnect, continue to create, to practice, practice, learn...
As I reflect, write, an occasional connection between Yesterday/Today surfaces. I seek a way to jumpstart, connect my memories, recollections of my current life to my previous. Sure I can do a chronological listing and work from there but I like the serendipitous connections created...and perhaps it is just this: a journal entry accompanied by word pictures and today photos. Perhaps this is the key. Perhaps."

Hello Art Before Breakfast: Time to replenish my tea and as I turn away from the window, I spy four squirrels: one gray, two brown and one black scampering along two electrical wires... playing follow the leader? I grab a pen, index card, make a very. quick. sketch and jot down an Haiku...At breakfast, I look at a few web sites with tips on drawing squirrels... I think I'll recreate this drawing on real mixed media paper...so I make a note to check my stash... (Oops, I see I wrote 2016 instead of 2017 on my ABB drawing.)

Hello Flower Garden Quilt: Today my quilting organization reconvened after the holiday break; I had full intentions of going...until I saw the temperature: a cold 16 degrees this morning. Decided without a demur to skip...for the simple reason that I did not want to tempt my cold or whatever this malady that I've had for 14 days and counting to stay any longer...instead, I inventoried the 24 blocks and four borders to see if I still need to applique´any pieces (found less than 5) and I washed/ironed the fabric for the sashing strips that will be used to connect all the pieces. Clearly, I'm on the downhill slope and all things considered, this project may be d-o-n-e before the end of the month and ready to turn over to the long arm quilter.
Hello Monday: You are the start of my week and I look forward to 52 more starts. What did you greet on Monday this week?
Cheers~
