T ~ The end of the month is just three days away: Sat, Sun, Mon! Tomorrow, Saturday, our Friendstitching group meets rather than Sunday and we changed our gathering place...I was to host but since the installation of a new garbage disposal was iffy, we changed places... which also works out better for one other group member...best news, though - the new disposal is installed and working just swell!
G - Grateful that my plumber arrived early and completed the job in no time! And that meant I was able to meet my friends, as planned, at The National Building Museum for the 36th annual Smithsonian Craft Show: Asian Influence/American Design. The works on display were each so unique and all, incredibly lovely and expertly crafted. If I were a rich girl, I'd have needed a truck or several to help me haul my purchases...alas, I bought only a book, lunch and drooled a lot. The art ranged from basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, mixed media, paper to wearable art and wood.
The artist was at lunch but her sister was there and we had a lovely conversation. This fabric is shibori dyed...it is absolutely stunning! Visit maryjaeger.com for more.
I - Inspired by all the loveliness and unique, fine craftsmanship on display in the show plus the opportunity to have conversations with the artists.
F - Favorites: I coveted many pieces of art but restrained myself...after all, major outlays in the past 36 hours precluded any such purchases.
Enjoy the weekend and thanks to Kym for this fun blog post idea...
Cheers~
