Thing 1: I wonder how many people have played the number 1.18.18 today...I played the big jackpot last week...obviously, I dinnna win or else I'd be writing from a warm, sunny, tropical clime. Last week's drawing was huge. Oh well, maybe next time (quiet as it's kept, I've played the lottery exactly 3 times in my entire life).
Thing 2: I'm sitting in the library, actually, my ol' stomping grounds. Here, I was, once upon a time, the branch manager. The area which then housed the information desk is now home to public computers, and these are, as in all libraries across the country, in use, all day, every day...we are a connected country. When I was here, computers in libraries were new toys, resources...we were all a bit enamored and apprehensive about them. Umm, let's see - that was about 20 years ago! Every time we logged onto the computer, we had no idea what we would find or how we got to wherever. We had to learn all the rules and tricks and algorithms for searching the internet - nowadays, you barely have to type in more than 3 characters when whatever you're looking for pops up.
Thing 3: It's been a lovely day: sunny and a tad warmer thankfully, spent with my friends for our weekly Thursday stitchin/munching/gathering. Our meal today was scrumptious: homemade autumn squash soup - move over Panera, Hilary makes a mean rival! Salad; an assortment of cheeses; fresh blueberries and strawberries; and just out of the oven apple pie - yummm and a real, British homemade fruitcake, pictured above. I have my new glasses and am in Greenbelt because I'm meeting friends to see the the movie "The Post." Well, the movie starts in about 20 minutes so I think I'll browse a bit and then head toward the theater...just a short walk across the commons...
Joining Carole and others for Thursday 3.
Cheers~
PS. The movie was very good!
