Welcome September.
As I pen this post, I am reviewing my day, trying to wrap my mind around the fact that in a matter of hours, it will be September! My favorite month of the year, the beginning of my favorite season : Autumn/Fall! As I drove north today to gather with stitchin' friends for our weekly meetup, I was cognizant of the trees beginning to change colors...hastened perhaps by the cooler than normal temps we've had the pleasure of enjoying.
This month stirs up all sorts of memories for me, and I'm sure for you, as well. And also, anticipation as this year, September is very special. I will travel to Oregon to reunite with friends, attend a week-long quilting workshop in Sisters and then to Washington - Seattle/Tacoma - to visit friends who just moved to that area, late July.
Today, I met a darling baby, born the end of June. She and her identical twin sister were 1.5 months premature. Very sadly, her sister died after open heart surgery and other complications. The mother, in her early 30s, is a very pragmatic, delightful and strong young woman. Though her and her husband's hearts are broken, their resolve to give their daughter a stable, loving home is quite evident. And they will.
Today, I saw a lovely butterfly; I wasn't quite able to get a full photo of it with its wings spread. In these tough times, the baby and butterfly remind me that we should never give up hope or resolve; life and love persist. And that's what I think September means for me.
Welcome September.
