Today, my sister and I took Chris to the Smithsonian National Mall. Wegman's, a Rochester-based grocery store, "created Wegmans Wonderplace, the first exhibition on the National Mall designed for children 0 to 6. This 1,700-square-foot interactive space provides the youngest historians with age-appropriate activities and experiences."
He played with the spinner toys...
He/we read a book about trains;
He had a ball, especially playing cashier at the fruits and veggies stand ...
and cooking. On the menu: steak, tomato and carrots. Yum!
He had his portrait taken...
and practiced driving ( he'll be taking his driver's license exam before we know it).
We had lunch at the Pavillion Restaurant in the Sculpture Garden. He filled up on chips and lemonade, shunning a very good grilled cheese sandwich.
We ended the day with a brief stop at the pool outside the restaurant... and then, going home on Metro.
This was his 4th Metro ride. He was pretty quiet about then - tuckered out as were his Great Granny and I...
Today's weather has been just about one degree shy of being perfect: low humidity; a coolin' breeze and lots of sunshine. Totally unlike July. But I'm not complaining! And H-O-T summer weather's to return tomorrow, with a vengeance! Oh no!
Cheers~
