Last year, The Washington Post did a full page spread on 2016 publications that the Post's critics liked, thus far. What I liked about the list was the photo: all the books were spread out on a carpet aka as a lawn. Remembering that, I thought I'd pose a similar photo of some of the books I've selected for my 2017 Book Bingo. Unfortunately, I neglected to clear my brilliant idea with Mother Nature; She decided that the grass needed rain more than books...need I say more?
So, I had to resort to an interior shot of some of my selections for this year - those I had on my bookshelves, that - which the exception of one: Snow Falling on Cedars - I have not read. And, it has been 17 years since I read it. I love that book and I just decided I'd taste (read) it again for the first time...and it fits a category: Originally published in the 20th century.
On my list, I also have 8 or 9 audio books...a couple eBooks and 3 spaces to fill... I am beginning my summer of reading with Louise Penny's A Fatal Grace, the second in the series - thanks to all for their sage advice. I started the book several weeks ago but am starting over because I'd not gotten very far.
I got caught today in the rain. Out for a walk, umbrella in tow, I stopped to talk to the guy who redid our front yard 10 years ago. While we were catching up - we'd not seen each other for several years - the heavens let loose. Fortunately, we could take cover on his front porch. Myron, Norman's son was visiting so I called him to come get me - or else, I'd have been totally drenched, trying to get home, about 12 blocks away.
Enjoy your holiday tomorrow.
Cheers~
