Mail wise, this past week was very, very quiet...nearly too quiet. I fuss all the time about all the junk mail we get: newspaper type advertisements, coupon and special sale newsletters, campaign solicitations, etc...and then I remember: in a way, this junk mail provides an income for a variety of people, ranging from the company's marketer to the printer to the mail delivery person to the staff at the recycling center; no doubt the cycle will continue, though I also remember the trees... I also received a magazine that I know not why...I didn't subscribe. I wonder if a friend did as a gift; Hmm: Note to Self: Ask KMG about Tea Time...
Of interest in this past week's mail, the book The Procrastination Equation by Piers Steel, PhD. Last week I listened to a podcast with Piers that piqued my interest and promptly ordered the book from Amazon...but because I was determined to finish the quilt, I procrastinated starting the book. This morning I did and I'm glad I did wait...now I can devote more time and attention to the book. On the cover is a review by Daniel H.Pink, author of A Whole New Mind, among other books. I remember oh so well when I first read that book: I stayed awake all night, taking in every word. Seldom does a book impact me in that way - I think I can count them on one hand. So, if Dan says "read," I'll read! So far, with only just 6 pages in, I'm sold. Clearly to be continued...
(a closeup look at the top of the quilt; yesterday's post here shows an almost full view)
This past week I devoted much of my energy and attention to finishing my Flower Garden quilt...no small feat since I started it in March of 2013, never ever thinking it would take nearly four years to complete. There were and are all sorts of reasons why that I won't enumerate in this post - maybe down the road when I share my learning journey...Today, I took the quilt to my weekly quilting association meeting to have me photographed with it - I intend to display in our groups biennial quilt show at the end of April . After that meeting, I took and left it with the long arm quilter. Fait accompli. Fait Accompli!
Though a quiet mail week last week, this week is already off to a better start...and with Valentine's Day just days away, I expect things will perk up a bit - which reminds me, I'd better get busy and get my Valentine notes in the mail! Have you written and posted (mailed) yours?
Here's to a grand week - mail and otherwise - for you! Hop on over to Sian at From High in the Sky and friends sharing their happy mail.
Cheers~
