When the going gets tough, how do you respond? This week's Think Write Thursday prompt question wants to know. And my answer is I am a generally positive person, very little gets me down (unless its of unfathomable proportions). Years ago, my mother counseled: "Be like Scarlett (O'Hara as in Gone With the Wind); think about that tomorrow." And generally, whatever I thought was end-of-the-world wasn't!
In training events, participants are often asked to evaluate the session, using a Plus/Delta formula:
- What did you like? what were the pluses +++
- What would you change? what are the deltas ∆∆∆
I think doing a +/∆ is a handy little formula to apply in most instances and/or days, especially those that fall under the heading: what can go wrong does...
Over the course of my lifetime, I have encountered some, at the time, seemingly insurmountable events and now, today, from my vantage point, I know that they were not. I guess this is called wisdom. This is not to say that I am now Miss Pollyanna or that I am not aware of and/or don't have experiences and encounters that are negative or less than desirable. I just know that there are many things that I cannot change tho' I can and hopefully do contribute to effecting positive changes. There is one thing I can manage and do focus my attention on...and change: ME!
How would you respond to the question? Visit this week's TWT page here for others' responses. Thanks to Carole and Kat for a thought-provoking topic.
Cheers~
