I was up to greet the Winter Solstice at 5:44 am today...and about 6:30 am, felt my stomach grumble...ah, yes, I went to bed very early last night, without dinner! (Had a big lunch.) So, I fixed a bowl of fruit and decided to sketch it on my journal page. After I snapped the above, photo, I made several Waterlogues of my drawing. Sharing two: the first, below, is the BOLD. I like the best.
This second is the Technical rendition... I think it washes out my sketch. Do you suppose there's a message there?
For the drawings, I used Caran d'Ache Supracolor pencils; they are drawing pencils that you can use to paint using a waterbrush. I like the pencils a lot - they are a tad expensive - and they don't really bleed much on the Moleskine journal's 70 gsm/47 lb weight paper.
And so, that is how I greeted the shortest day (and longest night ) of this year... plus there was an unexpected surprise that I'll share before the week's out.
How did you greet the solstice?
Cheers~
PS. I wound up buying new lights - $2.50 for a strand of 50. Couldn't beat that. The second tier is flirting with cutting out...and if it does, I'll use the lights on the mantle and call it good!
