(waiting ...)
Fri 13 May
For the past week or so, Norman's been walking with a slight limp; he said he thought the result of a new pair of walking shoes. I wondered: another bout with gout? Seemed to me about once a year, usually in the spring, it occurred. When I arrived home Thursday, he informed me that his foot was really swollen and painful and [he ] allowed as how it was probably another bout...so, bright and early Friday morning, we went for medical attention...and yes, it was gout. So, he's on prednisone for five days and has to cut w-a-a-a-y back on chicken - he eats a lot of baked chicken for protein...but not anymore, or at least a while.
Later that afternoon I had a hair appointment and stopped to pick up my reserve of Anna Quindlen's new book: Miller's Valley from the library... I've not yet cracked it open. A quiet day, all things considered. And of course, it rained most of the morning...

Sat 14 May
Today we awoke to sunshine and blue skies - tho, at 4:30 pm EST, as I pen this, it is r-a-i-n-i-n-g, of course. I had a leisurely MSQT and spent some time in my sewing room, practicing FMQ, preparing for my Monday Baltimore Album Quilt class and restoring some order. Tomorrow I take my sewing machine in for some TLC, so I wanted to have a few FMQ samples to take along for some feedback on the tension. I'm slowly feeling more comfortable as I practice; still a long way from wherever I think I want to be but a whole lot closer than I was on May 2. Progress.
That prednisone is one miracle med: already today the swelling and pain are almost gone and there's definitely more bounce in Norman's step! He even went out for a brief walk. Progress.
(up, down, around...)
About 1:30 pm, I decided to take a walk; the sun was still shining but the forecast - rain around 4 PM...and sure as my name is Honore“... I walked through the park, filled with young and old, enjoying a Sat afternoon, at play...including the dogs in the dog park. I stopped for a while and watched 4 guys skateboarding, taking turns... they were good. Up, down, around and able to stop on a dime. Better they than me or the two little girls, probably 12 -13 years old who also stopped to watch; we clapped for each skater and then I decided it was time to move on...skies were getting rather dark.
Home again, time for a late lunch/early dinner. It rained and will probably rain some more. We're in for a bit of TV; reading; stitching...just leisurely whiling away the rest of the day.

Peace and solitude to you, too on this week's end.
Cheers~
