(This week, May 9-15, I am participating in Week in the Life, sponsored by Ali Edwards. You can learn more about the free "event" here. )
Today, my quilting group day, began about 5:45 am. Dragging myself out of bed - went to bed much later than usual Sunday night - I decided to finish packing for this afternoon's 2nd Free Motion Quilting Workshop (following my weekly quilting group meeting). I'd loaded the big stuff in the car Sunday but still had other stuff to load. I peeked out the window and saw a bit of "sun"rise- after 13 days of cloudy sky - I looked for my phone only to remember I'd left it on the table downstairs...so, I knew I'd need to go downstairs and besides, I could go out on the deck and get a better picture....
Downstairs, I decided to make tea and get in an abbreviated MSQT after I a) took the photo/s and b) emptied the dishwasher! Forgot to do it last night...and, c) make a lunch. By the time I completed those three tasks, I was tired and ready to chuck it all {of course not} and go back to bed.
Persevering, I went back upstairs and finished packing, dressing and taking stuff downstairs. Getting ready for a workshop is almost as much work as packing for a major trip. Whew! Worn out already and I'd not even left the house! All things considered, I managed to leave home about 9:30 am...out to the garage and in the car, I realized there was a light on the dashboard that sent shudders down my spine: "Oh no! That same problem turned out to be an electrical short that used nearly two whole days of my life at the car dealership durning the last - Aug 2015 - Week in the Life - had returned!
I entertained all sorts of scenarios and feelings, ranging from:
1) " I'm just not going to rearrange my schedule to spend another day having the car serviced - I'll just buy a new car!" (My car is 13 years old/124K miles and other than that warning light annoyance, in great condition) to
2) adopting Scarlett O'Hara's attitude: "I'll think about it tomorrow..." I opted for the latter and drove on...
Once I arrived at quilting, I thought: "Hmmn, maybe the window on the tailgate wasn't closed. Bet it wasn't." We'd gone to the grocery store Sunday for a few odds-n-ends and Norman had opened the tail gate window rather than the gate itself...so, I opened and closed it again and then checked the light and voila, it was OFF!
Whew! I just saved myself a day of my life and $20K... I plan to post one or more stories every evening.. . check in tomorrow for Day 2's stories.
Cheers~
