"And what is so rare as a day in June?"
~James Russell Lowell
For the most of June, we've pretty much had heat, heat and more heat. Yesterday, the temp got to 98 degrees - in the shade. Oppressive. Just ripe for a storm! It came. Delayed the Nationals's ball game by 2 hours + some minutes. Power outages. At the end, a tremendous sunset.
This morning: temp: 70 degrees; low humidity, thus cool enough to open doors and windows; turn off the A/C; and take a leisurely walk ...
And I did. I saw gorgeous flowers and flowering trees. Vivid blue sky. A bounce to my and others' steps. Renewal!
I love James Lowell's quote* - have ever since a Washington Post editorial written in the 1970s. I was thinking - and feeling a little sad - that we weren't going to have any rare June days…but leave it to Mother Nature: she always redeems and surprises us. Thankfully.
I trust that you too are enjoying one of June's rare days.
Cheers~
