Last night I attended a celebration in honor of Mimi Dietrich, Baltimore quilter, who is being inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame in Marion, IN, next month.
(this is the center block of one of the Baltimore Album quilts on display last night, Waterlogued, of course; after all, it was Wednesday!)
Mimi's honor comes from the fact that she has taught thousands how to make a Baltimore Album Quilt with confidence and excitement. Last October I took a class with Mimi and made my first Baltimore Album block, a glimpse of which I believe I shared earlier on the blog. Here's a full look (again?) of me giving myself a thumbs up for getting it done in time to hang in my quilt association's biennial quilt show this past April.
Come September, I and several quilting friends will begin a year-long class with Mimi; we're going to construct our first full-sized Baltimore Album Quilt. Mimi is an excellent teacher/facilitator with a wonderful, honest sense of humor. She has a knack for calming everyone's fears and insecurities.
I am delighted to be in the class and ever so much looking forward to my year with Mimi! So, stay tuned as I plan to share my progress here on the blog. This is definitely one project that's going in my #GTWB (get to work book), as well.
Cheers~
