I am not much of a fiction reader - most books I read are because I've become interested in "doing something'' and I am looking for more clarity and understanding about process. So, this list is less about what I've read and more: what's currently in process and/or in my reading queue.
Of the ten:
- Two titles finished in the past several weeks:
- Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Daily Lives
- Daily Rituals. Daily Rituals consists of short vignettes about the daily rituals/ habits of famous creatives/artists: authors, musicians, composers, poets, Fun and funny glimpses of their daily routines. Very interesting.
- Four are in process:
- Your Daily Rock , is a daybook of touchstones -366 to be exact, one a day for a year. Each morning, I read the day's rock and journal my response. We are invited to revisit the rock in the evening - I usually do the next morning, before I move on to that day's rock. I'm trying to create the habit of an evening solitude and quiet hour -ESQT; so far, I've not succeeded. (calling in Better Than Before for assistance!)
- Aloha Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini - when I first started quilting, I read all her books. This is a nice diversion and goes well with a cup o' tea & biscotti during an afternoon break;
- Make it Mighty Ugly is all about making art - drawing, painting, sketching, knitting, etc and going for enjoying the process - not the focusing on the outcome.
- Still Life with Breadcrumbs - started last summer… and dip in, now and then. It hasn't grabbed me yet; looks like I may not finish it.
- Four more are in the queue:
- Master Evernote: I've had Evernote, the program/app, on all my devices for, ahem, awhile, and haven't used it...guess I might find it helpful as I chronicle my life stories;
- Art Before Breakfast. I just downloaded this title by Danny Sullivan; I like his art and moreso, his apporach. I think this is going to be a good diversion during my nine hours+ plane ride... coming up soon!
- The Quilted Garden - a book whose focus is designing and making nature-inspired quilts. I am not a gardener - not of the soil and plant/flower kind but I do so love the English style garden and quilted gardens - is perhaps the closest I'll ever get to a real garden.
- Finally, discovered during 2014's Book Bingo, a title by Maya Angelou I'd missed: Mom&Me&Mom...so, it too shall be downloaded to my iPad for taking/reading on my trip...
It's good to pause and take inventory about what one is reading, occasionally. Carole, the curator of this weekly list, is also a librarian, so I'm sure she has a tremendous list. Hop on over there and see what it is…as well as the lists of others. And do share some of your recent reads here, too.
Cheers~
