...for how I was going to spend yesterday or what I'd include in my 2010 Christmas journal.
Honoré here: Yesterday was the annual holiday potluck luncheon for my quilt guild - and my first time attending. Start time was 11:30-ish, rather than the usual hour earlier, so I took my own sweet time, getting ready, puttering about, etc. I got in the car at 10:20 am, turned the ignition and ...my car just sortof coughed a couple times -I bet you're familiar with the sound of a car straining to start. I tried again and this time, a last gasp and then, nothing. Yep, you guessed it, a dead battery. So, I called roadside assistance - a 50 minutes wait - and watched the clock, hoping that maybe I'd still be able to make the luncheon, even if a little late...
Fortunately, there was a Midas shop only a couple blocks away where I could take the car and yes, they installed batteries and had them in stock...so, once I got a jumpstart, off I went, still hoping that I'd make the luncheon. It is now 11:35 am. First, the existing battery had to be checked and yes, it was dead; after all, it was the original and was seven years old. Amazing it had lasted so long, I learned.
It is now nearly 12 Noon. I thought I still might be able to show my face at the luncheon. Not so. Of course the battery needed for my car was not in stock and had to be delivered. At that point I stopped hoping and patiently - ahem- waited for the delivery. 12:25 pm the battery arrives and by 12:45, I'm out of there! Resigned to having missed the luncheon - there's always next year. So, instead, I picked up Norman and we went to the credit union and then to the grocery store and then home.
The irony of all this is we have two cars. Would you believe that the second car is in the shop having the heater fixed?! Any other day of the year...
Nothing else was accomplished yesterday and I'm still working on creating a digital page; back to it .
Cheers~
