The Think Write Thursday topic is to write about the contents of your purse. Are you a minimalist? Or do you carry around a knapsack? And say, what’s in there, anyway? Tell us what you’ve got in your purse and why!
Hanging on the door knobs of three upstairs rooms are my three go-to bags:
- one for when I'm just schlepping stuff - which is generally always;
- one for quilting day;
- one for when I want to be a tad more dressy.
And I also generally have a plastic project bag or two, ready to go with me as I head off to a gathering with friends or perhaps an hour plus at Starbucks.
In the bag - whichever I am using - I generally carry: my journal/s; i Phone and iPad; pens; planner; a book I'm reading; a small bag (with hand sanitizer, glasses cleaner, tissues, assorted other toiletries); a folding hair brush; and my wallet, containing credit cards; driver's license; library, Metro and health cards. And a folding fabric shopping bag.
What I don't carry is my checkbook or debit card. I keep a minimal amount of cash and basically, use my credit card for purchases ranging from groceries to lunch out to fabric/quilting and/or knitting supplies, etc...I also use Starbucks' cards for my peach water - as one barista dubbed my order; to that I add my own tea bags that also accompany me.
I really like my "dressy" bag for it has a removable pouch of a good size that I use to hold my wallet, iPhone, tea bags, and toiletries. I can use the bigger bag to hold the other paraphernalia, if I wish.
My quilting bag holds my name badge/pouch and other items I might need for quilt group meetings. I primarily use the schlepping bag for errand shopping.
I am probably not alone when I state that I have an assortment of bags, accumulated over the years. Many are kept in the rear of my car, primarily shopping bags for groceries , library bags for books and the big blue IKEA bags - that do come in handy for a multitude of items, such as a king-sized quilt.
