September is my absolutely favoritest month and time of the year! And today is incredible! The sky is a vivid blue; there is relatively zero humidity; and the temperature is a delightful 79 degrees. Perfect! Perfect!
I have a lot - did I say a lot! - of activites on this month's calendar. I tend to do that every September because, as with most (here in the United States), September heralds the start of a new season, undoubtedly occasioned by the traditional back to school. So, where does September find me?
Goal #1 - Move More...and start my day earlier...
I'm on track to walk no less than a mile, preferably outside, every day. I have been experimenting with the best time of the day to take my walk and concluded today to schedule/begin no later than 9:15 am, after MSQT! Going on my walk is a great way to also extend MSQT! Don't ask me why I'm just now figuring that out!
Goal #2 - Stitch more...
My sweater knitting class totally bombed! There were seven - including the teacher - in the class. Only one of us completed the sweater! And it wasn't the teacher... I frogged the swatch I made and exchanged the yarn - I plan to make a scarf for Christian.
Progress returns to the Flower Garden quilt. I finished another block and am one leaf away from being done with another! (Just as soon as I finish the block, I'll share. Promise!) Now, the fun begins all over again: the choosing of fabrics for the next six blocks...As I compose this post, I find myself thinking about doing another "rearrange" in my sewing room. I really need to convert one wall to a design wall and that means moving the cabinet that holds fabric...uhm, a puzzle: what to do with the cabinet and the fabric?
During the summer, my quilt guild holds informal meetings and this summer, we worked on our raffle quilt for our 2015 quilt show. A lot of us, me included, learned the secret to stitching the crown points of the New York Beauty block; perhaps in due time I'll make a small quilt; it's been added to my list ;-)), along with my gazillion other projects.
I am spending more of my mornings in my sewing room.
Goal # 3 - Make progress on my PiPs...
PiPs is my acronym for project/s in progress...and I have more in various stages than I care to count. I think that being retired makes it quite possible to have any number of projects - from must do as in wash windows & cupboards; buy new carpet for the stairs; replace the front door; prune bushes for winter; etc to finish this, start that, etc. So, this month, my plan is to tackle and complete just exactly three long overdue projects:
- Return read/gently-used books to Amazon for gift card dollars. I have had a pile of books sitting in a corner for a long time. They are beyond the gathering dust phase. My plan is to move them out by the end of the monthh!
- Update my passwords directory! This is just one of those get around tuit projects that comes to my attention every time I have to look up a password!
- Create and follow a blog post calendar! I have been threatening to do this for months; there is no better time than now!
Goal #4 - Learn something new everyday...
Again, this year, I'm participating in Shimelle's #LSNED - my 6th time, I think. And I have quite a few online classes on the schedule for this month. All of them, combined, are giving me lots of things to learn and providing great fodder. I am thinking that the best lesson I'm learning is I can't and/or don't do as much in any one given day as I think I can/will. But I'm game to try!
Here's hoping your September got off to a grand start, too!
