I set my iPhone timer so I'd be sure to pause and take stock of the moment when it came today:
Listening to "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" on Pandora Internet radio...
Hearing the TV downstairs and a distant police siren...
Seeing sunlight streaming through the windows; it's a bright day - a little cool but there's no wind...
Trying to restore order to my studio ~ both rooms. Now that I have two new IKEA 80" tall bookcases with 15 3/8" deep shelves, I'm eager to get things re-organized for the upteenth time. The bookcases are so new they aren't even on line, yet... Of course, I remind myself, this isn't the first time I've added bookshelves or other things thinking that it/they will solve my storage and access needs...but this time, I am convinced. (And if not, I'll never tell, especially Norman. He helped me put the cases together yesterday and trust me, both our patiences were tried at times. But we overcame)...
Arranging pieces of fabric sitting on the mat at the cutting station...I walk into my sewing room to place an item on the bookcase, stop and fiddle with the fabric, and then, return to the other room...
Writing notes to myself, making lists...
Looking at the clock ~ we're going out at 12:30 so I think I'd better stop fiddling and gather my stuff; time to go...
Thinking, as I am conscious of the time and the moment, about the absolutely senseless, horrific, tragic shooting yesterday in Newton Connecticut at the Sandy Hooks elementary school. Knowing it is front and center in my mind, in the minds of most Americans as we attempt to go about our plans for the day . Despite what we have on our agendas, our thoughts inevtiably turn to the tragedy. We ask why? And why can't don't we do something to end these tragedies here in the United States...
I pause and say a prayer...

I've really enjoyed reading your moment, Hononré, and moved by the range of things it touches on. I (like many others) I am thinking you all at this difficult and painful time for you and your fellow citizens ... I am liking the sound of your new storage and hope, when it is done, we get a little tour? Thank-you so much for joining in :).

what a marvelous idea for memory-making. I know you'll love the bookcases - IKEA has the best storage. and the heartbreaking news still coming from Connecticut...now we learn that all the children were just 6 or 7 years old. something must change.

Your post is beautiful, I love that you, like me, think of so many things all at the same time, the thoughts of planning your work space, writing notes and the shocking news from America... a beautiful moment. Thank you for visiting me x
